Cashback Options for the Gardener
Introduction
Nowadays, there is any number of websites, or shopping portals, on the Internet that offer rewards for shopping with certain online merchants. These portals provide a list of retailers, in different categories, and are paid each time a visitor “clicks through” to a retailer site, but, because visitors are logged into the portal, itself, a proportion of the revenue received can be passed on. This is typically in form of cashback, where a proportion of what you spend is refunded to you, either immediately, or when your cashback account reaches a certain level, or discount vouchers, or codes, which are applied to your purchase at the checkout stage. Voucher codes, not only for percentage discounts, but for items such as free delivery, or complimentary gifts, are supplied by online retailers, and can be combined with cashback to provide even greater savings.
Saving Money on Garden Products
Cashback shopping portals are good news for gardeners, because many of the online retailers included fall into the “Home & Garden” category. The range of products on offer includes not only all manner of plants, shrubs, trees, etc., but garden and lawncare products, and larger, more expensive, items, such as tools, garden furniture, arbours, gazebos, etc.. Some of these items run into hundreds of pounds to buy, so why not claim up to £50, or £60, cashback on a single purchase, in some cases, if you were going to buy the item regardless of the cashback?
Registration on cashback websites is completely free, and you can typically shop, securely, with any debit, credit or prepaid card. Do bear in mind that, in some cases, your cashback entitlement is accrued, and only paid back to you when it reaches a certain level – say, £25 – with a merchant. There may also be a time limit within which you must claim your cashback, so if you shop infrequently for smaller garden items there is a chance that you may not be paid.
Claiming cashback on garden products, or redeeming discount vouchers, or codes, against them is tantamount to free money, if you would have bought the products in any case. You should not, however, use cashback alone as a basis for your purchasing decision. Choosing the best value product is more important than choosing the highest level of cashback, and bear in mind, too, that cashback payments can be unreliable, so do not rely on the money until it is actually in your possession.
